Rincon Rotary helps develop an Outdoor Sensory Path for Kindergartners at Tanque Verde Elementary

Tanque Verde Elementary assistant principal Julie Laird wanted to build an Outdoor Sensory Path for her students. She explained that sensory paths allow children to experience various textures and sounds that are unique to the outdoors. Children engage in imaginative play, problem-solving, and decision-making while interacting with the elements on the path. The open space, fresh air, and exposure to natural light can also have a positive impact on mood and emotional regulation. Children can play together, take turns, and collaborate on activities, fostering important social skills and relationships. The Rincon Rotary supports all of these objectives and was happy to help her acquire these items.

The Rincon Rotary's support is part of its Rotary LOCAL program, whose mission is to help improve the local community through educational outreach. Rotary LOCAL can provide manpower, resources from local business partners, or in some cases, direct financial support to teachers who apply for assistance. Rotary LOCAL is funded in part by our annual Taste of Chocolate event, a great way to sample local sweets and help teachers at the same time.
