Rincon Rotary supports reading skills toolkits at Gale Elementary

Hannah Sainz, a first grade teacher at Gale Elementary requested tools to help her assemble a word recognition toolkit for every student in her first-grade class. The tools included Whisper Phones, Mirrors, and Fidget Blocks and a number of other devices to help students develop phonological and orthographic (phonics) development. The Rincon Rotary believes reading development is a cornerstone to a successful life and happily provided her wish list.

The Rincon Rotary's support is part of its Rotary LOCAL program, whose mission is to help improve the local community through educational outreach. Rotary LOCAL can provide manpower, resources from local business partners, or in some cases, direct financial support to teachers who apply for assistance. Rotary LOCAL is funded in part by our annual Taste of Chocolate event, a great way to sample local sweets and help teachers at the same time.
