Teaching a Vet to Fish with help from the Rincon Rotary

The Rincon Rotary Club of Tucson teamed up with Dry Creek Outfitters and Healing Waters Fly Fishing to take our military veterans fishing. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing program instructs military veterans in basic fly fishing clinics, teaching skills like fly casting, fly tying, and rod building. Participants range from beginners to those with prior fly fishing and tying experience and are all shown how to adapt skills to their new abilities. Tucson's Dry Creek Outfitters was able to supply needed waders and fishing equipment at a discount while the Rincon Rotary supplied funds to secure the purchase.

Rincon Rotary's support is part of its Rotary Local Program, whose mission is to help improve the local community through educational outreach. Rotary Local can provide manpower, resources from local business partners, or in some cases, direct financial support to teachers who apply for assistance.
