Grab your ball,
Grab your bat,
Leave your worries in the classroom,
Just direct your feet
To the Buddy Bench for a seat!

Jessica Pierce at Lineweaver Elementary asked Rotary LOCAL for help funding a Buddy Bench. She explained that this is a bench where "any child who feels lonely on a playground can sit and other children will notice their predicament and reach out to them." One of the core principles of Rotary is to "Build Good Will and Better Friendships" and so the Rincon Rotary embraced this project. Local artisan and Lineweaver parent, Greg McPeak, donated his labor and collaborated with art classes and students at the school to build a truly unique, functional, and durable testament to the core principles of Rotary. The Rincon Rotary echoes Mr. McPeak's aspiration, expressed in the video below, that the bench facilitates lifelong friendships.

Rincon Rotary's support is part of its Rotary LOCAL program, whose mission is to help improve the local community through educational outreach. Rotary LOCAL can provide manpower, resources from local business partners, or in some cases, direct financial support to teachers who apply for assistance.
